Dental health day (mfg)
Unintentional down day. We only walked 6.5 miles. Toby woke up with mouth pain, not for the first time, so we took an Uber from Carreco to Caminha (conveniently missing rain and huge hills) in search of a dentist.
Good thing we were turned away from the first dental clinic because the receptionist didn’t speak English at all and seemed dismissive. She sent us on our way with directions to a hospital and another dental clinic.
We checked out the hospital first and realized that was a bad idea. It was filled with people who looked resigned and like they’d been there awhile.
Off to the second dental clinic, which was clean and bright. Bill approached the desk and started to explain to the three friendly women that Toby was having trouble with a crown.
“I speak English,” one of them said. And with that, Toby was whisked to the back - no waiting at all.
Some x-ray, novocaine, and drilling later, Toby came out, having had one a root canal. The bill? 50 💶
We ate a nice lunch, then napped this afternoon.
Met more folks with blisters this evening - a woman from Singapore or didn’t train at all and got lost in the hills today (she was in a good mood despite her day) and a woman from the Netherlands who is willing to take buses when she’s reached her daily walking linit.
No great revelations or ah-ha’s on today’s walk. It was short and lovely.
