Sucker day (mfg)
This was one of those days that suckered us in to wanting to walk more tomorrow. It was perfect - exactly what I hoped the Camino would be… a challenge, beautiful, variable, sunny, showcase of humanity at its best, contemplative, social, a marvel.
Nine hours, 45,379 steps, and 21.7 miles of utter contentment and being in the moment.
As we were looking for the start of the Camino, we met Eve and Julian from Australia and Maya from Hoboken. We walked with them for about an hour.
Then trekked on our own, through a forest, past fields and farm.
Literally through a wheat field.
Always searching for the small Camino sign. Can you spot it here?
When we stopped at a cafe for an amazing omelette with onion, mushroom, and olive, we met more pilgrims. Rita and Mike. Wendy. Toby. A few whose names we didn’t get.
Then, onward.
Who did we meet near the end of our day, having left them near its beginning? Maya, Eve, Julian.
Day 1 is done. We feel, remarkably, ok so far.
And now, Motrin and sleep. Then again, tomorrow. Can’t wait, even though I know this perfect day was just today.
